Up All Light
I wanted to design a lamp whose pieces could all be made repeatedly on the same fixture plate, but yet different and interesting by utilizing different materials and finishes. The illuminated pieces are made of machined polycarbonate with basswood inlays. The reflective faces are machined aluminum with a vinyl-covered bead blast finish to give them their pattern and reflective effect.
This desk lamp was created to combat my newfound distaste for the California lighting in my new apartment. The lack of overhead lighting has started my extensive lamp collection, but none of my purchased lamps seemed to add anything interesting to my room. My goal was to design a lamp that had an interesting light pattern and was also an interesting desk ornamentation during the day.
